About Me


Katie Chapmon, MS, RD is a Los Angeles-based Registered Dietitian specializing in the field of bariatric surgery and weight management since 2008. She is the proud recipient of the 2010 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award and 2018 Excellence in Weight Management Practice Award through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 

Katie served as a peer reviewer for the 2nd Edition of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Pocket Guide to Bariatric Surgery. In 2014 and 2018, she presented on the subject of Pregnancy and Bariatric Surgery as part of the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group Teleforum series. She has written numerous articles for both professional and consumer magazines including "On the Cutting Edge" from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and “Your Weight Matters" from the Obesity Action Coalition. Katie also served as education co-director and presented at several American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Obesity Week sessions. Katie is currently the Chair of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Integrated Health Clinical Guidelines and Issues Committee and the Co-Chair of the AND WM DPG Networks Committee. She has also served as a mentor with the WM DPG mentoring program to guide dietitians who are new to this exciting field.

Nutrition and the tools connected to how we eat can affect every aspect of our lives—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.  I am truly grateful to share my knowledge and whole body approach with the individual clients, as well as the nutritional businesses that support them. My goal is to reinvigorate your sense of self and purpose, explore where you’re at and where you would like to go. 

I work with individuals to re-establish their relationship with food, supported by scientific evidence and a compassionate approach.

I consult with businesses to evaluate their offerings and facilitate strategic enhancements that will optimize patient and client servicing.  

My enjoyment of both the science and the emotion of nutrition propelled me to become a subject matter expert in my field, and I welcome the opportunity to share my skill and passion with others.
